Another form of scamming

Scamming is something that's been a growing trend and you can never really relax in the online world when these guys are lurking. I have a mate who owns an Ag Retail store, and he got scammed the other day. He was working on Saturday morning, and a guy rang up wanting some fencing gear. To round things off, let's say it was $1000 dollars worth. He rattled off all the bits he wanted and sounded as though he knew what he was talking about. Then he gave him the credit card details over the phone as he wanted to pay for it as another person was picking it up. Happy days, it went through. Then, on Monday, the same person rang up, saying he was cancelling the order and asked if they could refund the money and send it to this bank account, so they did. Sure enough, the original credit card was stolen, and they refunded into the scammer's bank account. Old mate scammer became $1000 richer with a couple of phone calls. What should have happened was the store should have refunded the same credit card, but they weren't to know that, at least they do now. In the end, the bank refunded the money. This is a good lesson for all of us. There are many ways to be scammed. What ways have you heard?  Reply to [email protected] or 0427 011 900
