No 245 - Saturday's Club Notes

The “Club Notes” for Saturday, the 29th of June, 2024.

Hats off

I see below where Barnaby has given up the piss. He's an acquired taste, Barnaby; some love him, and many hate him, but not too many sit on the fence. He says he represents the Farmers, but some would argue against that. We had someone who worked for us from Scone in NSW who used to adore him; it was like a man crush. I remember we had a site at the Ag Quip Field Days at Gunnadah a few years back, and I remember Barnaby walking past our site, and instead of putting his hand out for a shake, he went weak at the knees and froze. By geez, we gave it to him that night over a few beers. But getting back to Barnaby, hat's off to him for getting off the wagon. There is an article below about it in the Ag People section, which goes into more detail; he also said this after the infamous street incident: "I disgraced myself, and I just woke up the next morning and said, "That'll do". Hmmm, I wonder if his new wife had some input into that. I classify a couple of beers at the end of a hard-working day as one of life's great pleasures, and to give that up would take a big commitment.
