The Streetfighters are rising

The period between the drought breaking (2020) and the Livestock prices crashing has arguably been the best period we have seen in Ag for a long time. That might be a bit of recency bias clicking in, and perhaps the 1950s Wool boom was more of a game changer. Anyway, those times are over, and the economic conditions in Ag are more normal. For the middle people, and I'd put us, Farm Tender, in that category, times have definitely changed. If you are a Livestock Agent, Rural Property Agent or a Salesperson for something, times have been pretty good. But as Farmers pull the reins in and a few of the incentives get dropped, sales are harder to achieve. I know the stuffing has been knocked out of some of the "older" Livestock Agents I have spoken to; they say they have lost their edge, and their enthusiasm has waned. I get that. It's times like these where the streetfighters come to the fore. And some of these older guys have been streetfighters themselves, they just don't have the energy to do it all again. And with Machinery Salespeople, it's a little more black and white. The ones that play the game right, are persistent and do what they say they are going to do will win. They know that things don't fall on your lap in these times. So, as Farmers, we need to identify who the streetfighters are and give them our business.
