Turning on the niceness
I had an interesting reply to our note on Machinery and how big it’s becoming and the price it’s getting to. They said this: “G’day Dwain, regarding your story on Machinery Dealers. I have noticed that they have been ringing and driving down my driveway out of the blue in the last six months. They’re just seeing if there’s anything they can do for me and making sure that piece of Equipment I bought three years ago is going ok. When I bought that piece of Equipment, I had to pretty much stalk them to get a price as they wouldn’t return phone calls, took ages and needed gentle reminders to email that not negotiable, take it or leave it quote. It seems things have changed a bit”. You can read the rest in the replies below. I have been hearing this a bit lately. It’s a bit of a natural human reaction; we strut when things are going well, and we grovel when we are in a state of need. But we have to be better than that. It would be a good time to reflect upon previous actions and try to learn from the two extreme ways of doing business. You just wonder when they turn on the niceness, whether it’s genuine or not. Farmers have long memories and will judge someone on how they have treated them. Have you seen different people now turning on the niceness? Reply to [email protected]
