Batteries for tools only

I am a bit of a latecomer to the handyman game. In fact, I'm not that handy, but I have all the tools. If you have a Farm, then you have tools and one thing that has revolutionised the tools industry is the battery. Cords their so 1970's. But it got me thinking of how far can the battery go in the Ag space. We have a battery-operated Whipper Snipper, and it's a ripper. I see there are battery-operated Motorbikes, and the Utes will be around soon, but something will have to change dramatically before we see Tractors, Headers and the like transition to batteries. They reckoned when former businessman the late John Elliott used to start up his Irrigation pumps on his Moulamein Property; the Edwards River would run backwards. Imagine plugging all the Machines we use at Harvest time into the grid for an overnight charge; it would be running backwards. So, to replace our trusty but expensive diesel, some new technology we probably have never even heard of will have to be invented. Are we a long way off from replacing something with diesel? Reply to [email protected]
