How lucky are we…..

We went to a small party recently. It was a local event, and we had only met a few of the attendees a few times. One of the guys I got talking to is a bit of a local legend who has been involved in the Legal system in some way, shape, or form. He is one of those glass-half-full guys who talks a bit of common sense. A few Red wines in, he said, "How lucky are we? A few drinks, good company, good food, and we get to live in the country". Farming and Agriculture can be a tough game with plenty of ups and downs, and sometimes it can get the better of you. But it sort of stuck with me that statement, and when it comes to events like Anzac Day where you hear the stories of people who made the ultimate sacrifice, that's when you do say to yourself how lucky we are. So now I carry that simple statement rent-free in the back of my brain and make sure I bring it out when things aren't going my way. I know people get a bit sick of those who are always positive and upbeat when they know very well that it's a bit of a facade. We still have to be real. But when things are building up against you, it's good to have a fallback on something that gives you a little bit of perspective to realise that things aren't quite as bad as they seem. Do you have something that allows you to bounce back when things aren't going your way? Reply to [email protected]
