When I die

I went to the funeral of a mate's mother, who was a fantastic independent lady who had a genuine interest in what you were doing. A life well lived, and like one of those people I wrote about a few weeks ago, she gave, but never asked for anything in return. As I reflected on the day, I gave some thought as to how we do funerals in general and how they haven't changed much over the years. We go to the church, we then get buried, and we all congregate for food and drinks afterwards. That's the way they have been in my time. The only thing that has changed is the dress code. In years gone by, we would all suit up for every funeral, and over the years, that has got to a point where some even go in jeans and a T-shirt nowadays. I also thought about when I die and how I want my funeral to go. This might evolve, but for me, what I am thinking right now is just cremate me, have the church thing (sorry not religious) in our Fook Farm woolshed (ripper spot), I will nominate a panel of people to say some nice things, then tip my ashes into the Loddon River which runs around the side of our property and let me float away. After that, the beers, wine and BBQ come out on the Fook Farm Woolshed deck. I better tell my wife before I tell you that. Ok, got the tick of approval. Do you want to be a little bit different with your funeral? How would you like yours to go?  Reply to [email protected]
