Farm Tour Learnings

I had a subscriber reach out with a bit of sad news that he lost a mentor of his who was in his nineties. He has two Farms, and what they used to do each year was spend two days driving around the Farms. One day on each. I thought to myself, what a wonderful thing to do. I'm not sure how they structured it up, but I am sure alot of driving around looking at things, scenario playing, throwing around ideas and discussing problems and issues would have been on the cards. My thinking is that informal would be the best thing with an agenda at the most so that the Farmer would give the heads up in advance as to what they want to look at and talk about. I don't really have a mentor myself, but I can see the benefit in Farmers doing this with someone they trust and respect. Nigel Kerin, a Farmer at Yoeval, is forever showing people around his Property, and he says it's not what you see; it's what you talk about, and he gets just as much out of the tour as the person visiting his Property does. Perhaps we all should open our places up for these Property tours. It's only going to be an information win/win situation for both parties. Or perhaps you find someone you respect in Agriculture and invite them out, offer to pay them a fee for the day and go at it. The learnings would be incredible. Thoughts?  Reply to [email protected]
