What an empty restaurant taught me

We stayed in Orange for a week and ended up going for a drive every lunchtime to have a look at what sort of Farming existed around the area. On our first trip for the week, we discovered a little town called Millthorpe. An old-style Farming village with magnificent old buildings that have been well preserved, and in some cases, enhanced. Whilst there, my wife Paula had a wonderful Ham and salad sandwich, and whilst she was getting that, I noticed a magnificent old building with all these tables decked out with perfect white tablecloths and cutlery. It caught my eye. The restaurant was called Tonic. Last Saturday, we decided to go there with the hope of getting a table. We did, and it didn't disappoint. It got me thinking that if it wasn't so beautifully presented when empty or non-operational (it's open from Thursday to Sunday), we wouldn't have noticed. It's a marketing lesson. When we think no one is looking, they are, or I'll put it differently, how could we be marketing or promoting ourselves or our businesses when we aren't meant to be marketing? It could be how we present our Farm as an example. Having a neat and tidy Farm every time someone drove past could make our business better. Think about it.
