No 233 - Saturday's Club Notes

The “Club Notes” for Saturday, the 15th of June, 2024.

Is this the answer?

We have spoken about the state of our roads for a while now. And yes, they are getting worse. This is not a surprise to anyone, but we can't just sit back and watch them get worse. I am a big believer that we have to start again and have a long-term plan of action; otherwise, we will have roads that are of 3rd world standard. Lately, I have seen more road patching done with Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA). I came across a section of road on the way to Swan Hill last Sunday and it was near perfect. I reckon the first choice is to go Concrete like they do in the US, but now I am thinking HMA. I'm just not sure, and someone will be able to tell me if it has the longevity of Concrete. And what about the cost? How we are doing it now with Bitumen is not working, and some of the roads they could rip and put back to gravel. What's your opinion of HMA?  Reply to [email protected]
