Huge news day

We got home from the dawn service in Melbourne about lunchtime yesterday, and after a couple of Coopers Pales Ales sending cheers to the diggers, I opened my laptop to start getting today's newsletter together. Usually, I have no trouble finding a good lineup of Ag and Farming news each day, but today, for some reason, there is so much interesting Ag news. I'm not sure of the reason; there's probably plenty going on. I absolutely love putting this together for our subscribers each day. It means I can keep up with everything myself, and it provides so much fodder to write about. Subscribe today, and I will personally email forward today's copy to you. Do you like keeping up with all the Ag news? Reply to [email protected]

Ag Week - I like it

I follow Charlie Blomfield on Twitter (X), and I always read with interest what he has to say. He can usually get my grey matter going in most of his 140-character statements. Charlie is a Farmer near Canowindra in NSW. This one is probably his best. See the last post at the bottom of the page. So he is mooting a week-long Ag event, which would be run, say, every 2nd year, and Farmers and those associated with Ag would converge or take over a Capital city (for accommodation and venue reasons) and run a series of conferences or one big conference. Ag Week, like Beef Week or something similar. I like the idea, but it would need to be thought out well so you could get all industries there and cater for their interests and needs. I am totally convinced that no matter what Ag industry you are in, you can learn stuff from other Ag industries. It's all in how you present it, and if the focus is on the business or innovation side and not the product or service side, it becomes universally interesting. Then there's the networking, which would be huge. The timing needs to be impeccable so as not to clash with things like Harvest, Cropping, Bull and Ram Sales, Spraying Days, etc. I don't know who would have in their repertoire or to organise such an event, but I look at the stuff Beef2024 are sending me, and the organising that has gone into that has been amazing. So the thinking is an organisatin or business that is starting from scratch that could run it. Do you have anything to add? What would you like to see at such an event? Reply to [email protected]
