The Farmers Club

No 204 - Monday's Club Notes

The “Club Notes” for Monday, the 13th of May, 2024.

Damage done

This has turned into our biggest newsletter yet..... So, the current Government have officially banned the Live Export of Sheep. This has understandably upset alot of people. Today, we have added a category in our "Ag Articles and Images" section with all the comments and articles associated with this decision. It's right at the bottom of the page. The reactions have been interesting to read; I feel for those who are feeling the pressure from this. It's the frustration of it all that people are feeling, that our Government are not listening and an Agriculture minister who is anti-Farming and bows to organisations like the RSPCA. Dangerous. There is still hope, the opposition has said they would reinstate if elected, but I think the damage has already been done. Many, especially in WA, will give up on Sheep; it will be the straw that breaks the Camel's back for many. Farming in Australia got a setback over the weekend, and things have become a little harder. Be angry, feel down, ask why me or why us, kick the cat, and get pissed, but don't make any rash decisions until the dust has settled in your own mind. Decisions around the future of your Farming business need be be made over time and with a clear head. Easier said than done, I know. There will be good times in the Sheep and Lamb industry again. Please tell us how you are really feeling right now?  Reply to [email protected]
