No 192 - Monday's Club Notes

The “Club Notes” for Monday, the 29th of April, 2024.

If you have lived in a Rural community all your life, you may take for granted the dynamics of how it functions because you just know how it works and what is required to make it work. Then there are those who come into a Rural community who crave connection and go looking for it as they might have arrived from a city or big town environment. The two are very different cats. I was out and about on the weekend and travelled to Stawell, where they had a 150th-year celebration for the Football Club, of which I played for 5 or 6 years. It was a good show and another example of what it takes in a small community to put these things on. On the way home, I picked up an edition of the Landsborough and District News, which is a small community East of Stawell. It looks like it's a monthly thing and obviously runs on a shoestring budget, with it being free and the advertising rates starting at $30. But it was chock full of information, stories and lots of very good colour photos. It's not a once or twice weekly Paper owned by some listed company. It's so much more than that. See a photo of the front page at the bottom of this newsletter. Do you have something similar in your community, or is it a proper paper that is commercially run? Reply to [email protected]
