The great storytellers

We all know people that are just great at telling stories. It just naturally flows out of their mouth, and yes, sometimes there is a little bit of extra mayo. But hey, it's a show; they are entertaining us. I remember an old fella called Stuart McGregor, a Farmer from the Callawadda/Marnoo where I grew up. He was pretty good at it. He could dig back into history and pull out some good ones, and he knew who was related to who and that fueled some also. I am mates with one of his sons who can reel them off, too, some are repeated, handed down a generation. Another local Farmer in the area who could spin them was Snow Parry. He used to appear out of nowhere, and he could entertain us for hours on end. One time, we were marking Lambs in a paddock on the road, and old Snow pulled up in his busted-up Ute. We had about 400 Lambs to do and had them all drafted up and ready to go when he arrived unannounced. Well, he was there from Lamb no 1 to Lamb no 400, just talking and smoking; he was a natural. How about you, do you know of any great storytellers? Reply to [email protected]
