Business is not linear
I see where Beechworth (Vic) based beverage business Billson's has gone into voluntary administration. It's very sad for a rurally based business that has grown so much in the last 7 years. Nathan and Felicity Cowan have overseen the operation and put a very heartwrenching post out on LinkedIn yesterday explaining what went wrong. It takes courage to do this, but it even takes more courage to admit that it was you who made the mistakes that led to this situation. They said this: "Over the course of 7 years, everyone's hard work and passion has resulted in overwhelming support by people all over Australia and some pretty incredible business growth. Unfortunately, that growth masked several mistakes we made along the way as our systems and processes failed to keep up. We're ultimately responsible for these mistakes, and we know that we have let people down. We are devastated and sorry". Business is not linear. It's full of ups and downs and surprises galore. You can be flying one minute and on the scrap heap the next. I know we have had our share of ups and downs over the years, and I have made oodles of mistakes, too. Let's hope Billson's can get through this and come out the other end stronger than ever. Read the full LinkedIn message in the Agribusiness section below.
