It wasn't meant to be

I want to share with you something personal. For over 4 years now, we have had 4 goes at building a new house. Ever since we purchased our little 120-acre Farm, we have always planned to build a house on our plateau or highest point. We've been through a few architects and a couple of builders, and each time it has gone over our budget, a couple of times it was more than double. No one's fault; it's just the way it worked. So after a long chat Paula and I have decided, no new house. We worked out that we really like the house we currently live in, and with a few more bob spent on it, we can make it even more special. We also decided at this point in our lives we didn't want a huge debt hanging over our heads; we both enjoy our current simple lifestyle and want to maintain that. We have spent a bit of money to get to this point, but we are not worried about that. Sometimes in life, it costs that much or more to come to the right decisions. It was never going to be a trophy house on the hill, but it was going to be something a little bit different. So my point is sometimes you have to reevaluate what you want in life, and a big debt is something we didn't. Have you ever had to reevaluate what you want in life before? Reply to [email protected]
