Doing the right thing
Duxton Vineyards have had some press lately because they put out a letter to their creditors saying they are running a bit short and won't be able to meet the payment terms of their creditor. See the story and letter below in the Agribusiness section. This is a couragous thing to do, especially making it public. But they have done the absolute right thing here. When you get in a situation like this, communication is the most important thing you will do. People will help you work through something if you communicate with them. If you're not answering the phone, then that's when others get cranky. Yes, it might be slightly or fully embarrassing, but you will come out the other side much stronger for the experience. And I'm not saying go to the press or anything like that. Just give your creditors a call to let them know the situation that you are in. It has been a tough old time for those in the Wine industry, and it's a good lesson to have diversity as far as sales channels are concerned. Even though China has reentered the market, it needs to be part of the market and not the market. That's always the worry with Wool.
