Farming Rules

I spoke to a Farmer yesterday who always keeps two years supply of Hay on hand to make sure he can get through a prolonged dry period if it comes along. That's what I would consider one of their Farming rules. I remember we had something similar back in the idiot brick (small square Bales) days when we had three large Sheds full of everyone's worst nightmare. It got me thinking about what rules other Farmers have. Some have very strict Sowing/Seeding rules, and a general rule, which is probably an old one now, was that nothing went in the ground prior to Anzac Day. Farmers have rules around when they want to Lamb and Calve. Some have rules around how they build fences and others have rules like they don't work on Sundays. As we say, every Farm is different, and not two Farmers operate the same way, so I'm sure the Farming rules differ alot from Farm to Farm. What are some of your Farm rules, ones that are unique to you and your Farm? Reply to [email protected]
