Speaking to the converted
As I mentioned, we went to the rally on Friday in Bendigo, which was really well done, but the only problem was it was speaking to the converted. Yes, you do need to get the converted there to reemphasise the narrative and to keep the passion going. They also got some ok media coverage out of it, which gives the non-farming community an idea of what is happening, and that is positive. The people that were there were dealing with a wide range of issues, such as Powerlines, Wind Towers, Solar Operations or a Mine. So their problems are pretty diverse, and they will all be dealing with different organisations, and how they go about it will be different. But they all have one thing in common. The problem they have is that these things threaten their ability to Farm. Their ability to just get on with the job unimpeded. That’s all they ask. Another issue these people have is that it’s exhausting fighting these campaigns, and it has the ability to take your eye off the ball in a Farming sense. By that, I mean it distracts you from the main game, and that’s running a Farm. These people are passionate; they will fight, and let’s hope they can get some wins along the way.
