Daylight saving - Love it or loath it?

Daylight saving. It's a controversial one, always has been and always will be. It seems to be a black-and-white thing. You either hate it or love it. A general consensus is that most Farmers are in the dislike camp. I can understand why. The Dairy Cows don't understand that the clock has been put forward and hour in spots. Farmers argue that it extends the working hours. Personally, I like it, because I work behind a computer screen all day and like to get out and about around the Farm for an hour or two in the evening. However, it makes a mess of timezone, as you can see by the image below. Have you got any for and against arguments for me? Reply to [email protected]

Game changer ideal for Farms

We got this installed on Friday. It's a Wavlink Aerial-HD6 outdoor router. You can buy it for about $300. It connects up to our Starlinknear and beams a signal out for about 300-400 metres. We set up the TV in the Woolshed 110m away and streamed the AFL Grand Final on Saturday, and it never missed a beat. It would be good for Farms with not much phone service, or houses or offices close by that could use the one internet connection. See the image below. Reply to [email protected]

New way of selling Lambs kicks off next week

You may have read a little bit about the new Abblamb concept for selling Lambs directly from the Farm. It's billed as a new alternative to the Saleyards. Read more here. Auctions will be kicking off next week and will start at 8 am each day, and the sales will take place in close proximity to a current Saleyard sales. Eg, near Bendigo on Monday, near , or houses closWagga Wagga on Thursday. See the image below of all the sale dates. Auctionsplus rival Farmgate Auctions will run the Auctions on behalf of Abblamb, and the Lambs will be assessed by Agents and aimed at the direct-to-processor market. It's fantastic to have new innovations and new business models in Ag, and we will be watching with interest how it all goes. Good luck to the organisers. Reply to [email protected]

The wait is excruciating

There was a nice drop of rain in places in WA last night, but it was mainly coastal. I'm not sure if it's the same front that is going to hit South East Australia in the next day or so or whether it's a system that's developing on its own. Anyway, it has been a dry period across the nation. For some, it's been dry all year, and others only in the last 2 weeks. The forecasters are saying some decent rain is on the way. I don't know about you, but the build-up to this forecast rain has been excruciating to watch. The forecast area shifted around a bit early and has been more settled recently. There are plenty out there looking for some relief on their ever-drying Crops and Pastures. Some are too far gone, but I'm sure they will be barracking for the ones that still have something to salvage. Reply to [email protected]
