The Input challenge

I listened to this Ag Watchers podcast yesterday morning, and it brought back some memories. The interview was with Fraser from iinput.com, who has started a new website where Farmers can tender out their Fertiliser and Chemical requirements, and suppliers can then quote on those requirements. Funnily enough, that was the first business model Farm Tender adopted. Hence the name Farm Tender, which we have never changend. This was about 11 years ago, but I couldn't make it fly at the time. And that's not to say that Fraser and his team won't be able to get their model going; I am certainly barracking for them, and we have even quoted on it already. It's a two-sided marketplace, and for us the problem wasn't getting Farmers to list what they required; it was getting suppliers to quote. I had one Supplier who did 5 quotes in a row and lost them all and said bugger this, it's not working for me. I hope the right time is now for the model to work. Good luck. Convincing Bill

Bill Burge is a longtime Farm Tender member from just South of Toowoomba in Queensland. He's pretty straight down the line and has given me a serve or two over the years. I might have given him one or two back. Anyway, he loves reading our Farm Tender "Daily" but wasn't convinced about signing up for this newsletter, thinking it was some kind of woke thing, to use his words. Anyway, Bill succumbed once he realised it was free (and not woke) and is now an advocate, but outlined that he is not paying any bloody subscription down the track. As I have mentioned before, I will eventually turn it into a subscription in 2024 sometime. So that's my challenge, to make it compelling enough to Bill (and you guys, of course) that it's worth paying a few bob for. I honestly did underestimate the work involved, and most of it is before and after-hours work, but I am loving it and want to keep committing my time to it. And a bonus is that we get many favourable replies. I guess the hard work starts now, Bill….. reply to [email protected]

It's Saturday what's your beverage of choice?

I love Saturdays for a few reasons. 1) There is a lot more content in the Saturday papers, so that keeps me entertained for a few hours. 2) I also go to town and catch up with a mate for a coffee, and then 3) around lunchtime, I enjoy a beer or two. I have always been a beer man, and my poison of choice is Coopers Pale Ale. I never forget when I first came across it. I was doing a Grazing-for-profit course when I was about 23 in the Coonawarra area of SA, and I remember having a pint of it and was instantly sold. So I have been drinking it now for 30 years, and the only alteration I have made is going from stubbies to cans. It wasn't easy finding the Cooper's brand in those days, but over the years, it has gained in popularity. If you're a drinker or non-drinker, what is your favourite beverage? Overwhelmingly short

Thanks to everyone who replied about keeping the short-form articles/writings going as opposed to the odd longer-form pieces I was throwing in there. Keep it short was the overwhelming sentiment. So short it is…. See lots of short stuff below. Have a great weekend. Reply to [email protected]
