Ahhh the memories

It was AFL and NRL Grand Final weekend, and if you are lucky enough to barrack for the winning team, then well done. Many of us never made it to the highest level, but many of you out there would have experienced Premiership success, which I'm sure you will never forget. I played in a couple of Footy (AFL) premierships and a handful of Cricket ones. It's been a while now, but I sometimes think back and just smile. Of course, now it's about the reunions and the people that you played with. I love the conversations, the reminiscing, the individual journeys, and the beers. Take five minutes to think back at some of your sporting achievements. Reply to [email protected]

You have to lose to win

As we all know, Farming is a tough game. It's not Murphy's law, but it's not far off. What can go wrong might go wrong. We just don't know what might go wrong. Having a long journey is Ag is all about learning. What did we learn from this? What did we glean from that? One smart Cocky says success is a poor teacher. I'd go so far as to say unless you have made mistakes that have cost you money, and in some cases lots of money, then you don't take the mistakes seriously. Because it hurts, and when it hurts bad, you learn. Sometimes you have to lose to win. I'm sure many of you have lost some decent money at times. Reply to [email protected]

They call it lawn porn

We only run a small Farm here, which usually only accommodates a couple of hundred Sheep. So, my Cropping program for the year is our lawns. They are Santa Anna couch lawns. The best thing is you only plant once, but the fertiliser program, Irrigation, and weed control still need to be managed. Although it's not as high pressure, the satisfaction level can still be the same. Sunday was lawn reno day. The day when we cut the living daylights were cut out of the law with a Cylinder Mower to strip it right back and encourage new growth. This was a mild reno this year. Next year, we will scarify it, which rips much of the roots and thatch out of the lawn. After that, we will top dress with sand. We love our lawn, they call it lawn porn. See the image below.
