Celebrating Premierships
Instead of asking a question last, I will ask it first. How many open-age sports premierships have you been involved in? Reply with a list of your premiership achievements over the years. It could be AFL, Rugby, Cricket, Soccer, Tennis, etc. For the record, I have been in 2 x senior Football flags and 5 Cricket titles. I remember most of them reasonably well, and they were a great time in your life. I think it’s because you got to share them with your teammates is the reason why it makes them so special. And then you get to have reunions. Something like a premiership can do wonders for a town or small community. I was with a couple of ex Ex-footballers out Goroke way on Friday night. Their local senior team won the Grand Final last year, and their sons played in the winning team. What that did for the local community was immense, as I think it had been a long time since they had tasted victory. It’s that time of year now when the culmination of all the hard work can result in glory. And then there is the heartbreak too….. If you get the opportunity to celebrate a win, do so for a while and take it all in. You might even forget about the Farm for a few days. They are some of the most memorable moments you will experience. Reply to [email protected]
