Bet each way

On Saturday, we put up a post about a so-called weather forecaster who said he could guarantee rain if people paid him $3856 + GST. He would guarantee rain on their Farm, or, if it didn’t, your money back. A bet each way…. Surely, no one took it up, although he claims to have customers who have subscribed and have been successful. Most considered it a scam, and really, it was just a roll of the dice for the instigator. But it got me thinking about our fascination with weather apps and forecasts. There are so many around now; some are free, and others you pay for. Some Farmers swear by one or the other and put all their faith in someone who is trying to be exact about an inexact science. I understand the fascination, especially with Cropping Farmers, because they rely on weather forecasting around the most important job on the Farm, Spraying. Farmers also consider it an advantage to know if there is going to be a rainfall event a couple of weeks out. But I think the weather people know that Farmers are hooked on this stuff, and they exploit them in some way, shape, or form. A guy like AV Weather had a heap of subscribers before he went off the rails and started posting conspiracy theory stuff. Do you subscribe to any Weather forecasters? Reply to [email protected]
