Blocking out the chatter

I was thinking over the weekend about what separates the successful people in Agriculture from the rest. Subjective thoughts I know…. And I have come up with this. These people, like the Harry Bourchiers of the world, would know that people are talking about them all the time because they are doing things that no other Farmers are doing. They would know, but they wouldn't be worried one little bit; it would head down and into it. This doesn't mean they are not caring, callous people; quite the opposite in many cases. But having that don't care attitude from day one, I think, is a huge advantage. So, if you want to achieve something of significance in Ag, adopt this attitude right from the start. For some, it comes naturally, but for many, it will be a learnt behaviour, but you must be disciplined in executing it without fear or failure. Chase your dreams, and don't let the naysayers get in your road. You, too, can do things that will become folklore like Harry and others have managed to do. Ag's a space where there is lots of chatter; the less you listen, the better you will go. But do it respectfully. In your Farming career so far, have you been influenced by the chatter?
