Driving the 2388
I had a good reply to our "specialist" story the other day. Take a read here. The Farmer said this: - “Hi Dwain. I read your article about specialist drivers, I’m not very sure about that. I actually think if you could operate a 2388 at maximum capacity without auto this and auto that, taking notice of conditions and listening to how your Machine was performing driving the thing for 14 hours a day extremely straight, then you were probably a much better specialist than any of these people today”. This is an interesting look at it because there was a lot more feel about driving a Machine back when the Case 2388s came on the scene. You have fewer gauges, next to no buzzers and not a screen in site, and as the Farmer mentioned, you have to actually steer the thing. Being an old 2388 driver, you had to use your ears as you could sort of hear and feel how loaded your Machine was. And if you pushed your Machine too hard, you had to get out and unblock her. To all you Header drivers out there, what are your thoughts? Reply to [email protected]
