No 333 - Thursday's Club Notes

The “Club Notes” for Thursday, the 10th of October, 2024.

By Dwain Duxson - An Ag Enthusiast

As Farmers, we are always dealing with middle people when we are either buying or selling something. I say middle people with the utmost respect because the industry doesn't operate without them, even though Farmers might bemoan them at times. I think a good middle person or business that charges a fair rate, can deliver value and is punctual is worth its weight in gold these days. And you might be thinking to yourself, aren't you a middle person yourself, and yes, we are proudly one of those. We love being in the middle between buyer and seller, getting them the best result possible. Finding good middle people is the hard thing, and then if you find them, you have to somehow keep them. It's like a good relationship banker/broker; they are few and far between these days, but they are out there. You just have to find them. A Cropper's relationship with their Agronomist would have to be one of the most important relationships a Farmer could have, such as the complexity of the Crop chemistry game. Not too many Farmers would be able to keep up with everything. But if you are not happy with your middle people, you have to keep searching and don't be afraid to give a young person a go. Your measure should be that you are making several times what you are paying them. Do you feel you have the right middle people in your camp?  Reply to [email protected]
