Passion personified
I listened to the Head Shepherd podcast yesterday featuring David Thompson. David is an old mate of mine and is a funny man. He is a Farmer 40 km East of Katanning in WA, where they run the Moojepin Mernios stud business. David is still involved in the Sheep but has handed the reins to his son Hamish. For context take a listen to the podcast here. David is an ideas man and has a side hustle business called Moojepin Foods. It's a unique sideline in that they harvest natural salt-based plants as garnishes for the food industry. All up, they employ 5 people. But what I took away from this conversation was that when starting their food business, they had no one to follow because no one had been in this space before. It was all trial and error, all in-house R & D. There was no one to talk to about what to do, and there was no handwritten manual. It's like they have created a whole new category of human consumption food types. This would be both exciting and daunting, and they are now at a point where demand is far outweighing supply. It's an enviable spot to be in, but it does have its problems. David is one of those blokes who's full of enthusiasm and passionate about what he does. He loves it. His energy levels are high and never alter, and he is not afraid to try new things. Think about this one for a minute. What are you really really passionate about? And what is stopping you from pursuing that passion? Reply to [email protected]
Rebuilding the balance sheet workshop
I had a Farmer contact me Sunday night wanting to know if people would be interested in a workshop around rebuilding your Farm balance sheet. These workshops would be held in Victoria and SA. They would centre around rebuilding your financial position after a tough 2024. Reply “Y” to [email protected] if that’s something you would be interested in…..
