Billy and his 1 percenters

I listened to the ripping podcast yesterday that featured Billy Baldwin, a young Farmer from near St Arnaud on the eastern side of the Wimmera. Take a listen here. This podcast is raw, and Billy just tells it how it is and the sort of things he wants to achieve as a Farmer. One thing that did prick my ears is that Billy is always talking about the 1 percenters. I’m not sure how old Billy is, perhaps 23 at a guess, but he seems to have a pretty mature head on his shoulder. The 1 percent thing is like our increment thing, and it’s one of our Farming theories that in Agriculture, you can only achieve things in small increments, which lead to big things over time. Get a lot of small gains that collectively add up and turn into big gains. This sort of approach is the patient one, but it’s amazing if you adopt this line of thinking about what you can achieve in the space of 5 or 10 years.
