Things that divide opinions

There is a product that sits on the back of a Header that pulverises the weed seeds to stop them from sprouting next year. The concept is a good one, but it seems to be very divisive; some love the concept and are seeing results, and others say the opposite. Seed Terminator and Redecop are the main companies that make them and have them custom fit to your Header of choice. One of the criticisms about them is that they are expensive and expensive to run, as your Header will have to work harder and you will use more fuel. I just find it interesting the divisivness it brings. See a few tweets outlining this below in the paid section. It got me thinking about how some things in Ag really divide Farmer's opinion. The colour of your Machinery can be cult-like. I was involved in something that really divided the Merino Sheep industry, and that was the SRS breeding system. That really stirred things up. We were breeders of SRS Sheep and copped it on a few occasions from some of the more traditional breeders. There were even breeders who would buy Rams and semen anonymously under another person's name to try them to see what all the fuss was about. They would never advertise that they used a Ram like that for fear of backlash. What other things stir up the emotions and divide the Farming community? Reply to [email protected]
