Are Machinery Manufacturers next?

I put up a couple of posts yesterday about how the big traditional Car companies like Ford and Volvo are really struggling. They have been caught in no man's land, or what we call the messy middle. They sorta got the jitters with the EV thing and the aggressive push by Tesla and the Chinese EV companies spooked them a bit. Plus, some of them made promises they would do things like cut combustion engines by 2030, which they are trying to reverse now. It's a bit of a mess, really. Now they are paying for investing in the wrong areas. The question is, will the big Machinery manufacturers be next to go through some tough times? I would say they haven't been caught in the messy middle of having to switch to a completely new category like EVs. Machinery has pretty much stayed the same from a baseline point of view and just advanced its technology. Oh, and they keep building them bigger. In other words, they have toyed with things like Automation and, to a lesser extent, electric, but they haven't invested the money the car companies have. The big Machinery companies seem to hold all the aces, and if anyone is nipping at their heels, they will just buy them out. The only issue I see is if someone comes in and can prove that smaller and more of them (as opposed to big) can be more efficient. It's going to be a fascinating space to watch over the coming years. Just a side note: I heard that Australia was the only place where John Deere didn't make budget out of all the countries they sold to last financial year. Do you have any predictions about what might happen in the Machinery space?  Reply to [email protected]
