Ag’s foremost institution
I heard the other day that of all the students who now go to Marcus Oldham College, only 20 per cent have a Farm to go back to. I found this number very interesting. It was said that because of this, the students stay sharp because they all know that what they do whilst there is career-defining. You really do have to sing from the rooftops as to what this intitution has done for Australian Agriculture. Some of Australia's heaviest hitters have been through the gates, and you meet people all the time who have been students at some point. Our very own Mike Pickard was a student a few moons ago. Another interesting thing I found out was they don't receive any government funding. It's run like a business that has to stand on its own 2 feet. They are also making it compulsory to live on campus rather than having day students; they think that having every student live there is part of the experience. I applaud them for that. Have you been a Marcus Oldham student, and if so, what was your opinion on your education there? Reply to [email protected]
