The work will defeat us…..

See in the replies section below how a Woolgrower is questioning the workload required to run his productive flock. He said this: "My brother and I run this business together, and like many Woolgrowers, we are now 55-60 and the work required will eventually defeat us". I am not sure if there are any clear succession plans here or if the next generation isn't interested in the Merino flock. In the reply, he went on to say he knows of a prominent Merino breeder who is going over to Dorpers, and he said this: "If those blokes can't make Merino's work, then no one can". But getting back to work, it's interesting that they think they will eventually have to give the Merinos away themselves because of the workload. I guess there are a lot of touch points with Merinos, and the reason people go into Dorpers and the like is because they can take away a few of those touch points. It's sorta like running Cattle. I love my Mernos, and it saddens me and many others that we actually have to talk/write about it like this, but workload and complexity within our Farming businesses are something we need to constantly address. And if that means an enterprise has to go, then it has to go. And it could apply to other enterprises within our business, not just Wool. See the full reply for context below. Have you ever dropped something off becuase of workload?  Reply to [email protected]
