Are you liking your bank ATM?

Ahhhh the banks. Do they really care? SA Farming consultant and Stock Journal columnist Michael Bagshaw says Banks have been responsive with his clients who have most obviously had a tough time during 2024, which is good to hear. Farmers need a good relationship with their bank because they provide working capital when needed. I think most banks have some sort of understanding of the lumpy cash flow that Farmers endure over the course of a year. You would hope they would. In an article published below (Agribusiness section), non-bank lending in Ag has increased some 400 per cent in 2023 compared with 2022. This means that Farmers are exploring other ways to fund their businesses. In some cases Farmers are funding other Farmers. How good is that? This, to me, means that Farmers are frustrated with the level of attention they are getting from their bank. For guys like Micheal, whom the Ag banking industry would know well, when he goes into battle with the banks to represent his clients, he has a distinct advantage in that he can get some action much quicker than others. He also knows how they work and function, which is another advantage. Are you liking your bank or financial backer at the moment?  Reply to [email protected]
