Will it replace the Boomspray?

Generally, when you read more and more about a new developing industry, it means that it's gaining some momentum. I have never seen so many posts/articles right now about Drones and their Spraying capabilities. There is growing interest from Farmers and contractors alike. These top-notch Spray Drones can cost $40,000 to $50,000, and their capabilities are growing. Some hold 60 litres of liquid, so they would be suited to the green-on-green or green-on-brown Spraying scenario. Something else that is holding them back is the licensing process. Typical, as soon as you are onto something good, the authorities tie it tight in red tape. The question is, will they one day replace the Boomspray? You can't imagine so, but I haven't really seen what these things are capable of. My original take on Drones in Ag was that they were a gimmick, but from what I have read in the last 12 months, my opinion has changed. One Farmer said that with 2 drones, he can spray about 40 hectares an hour. Could it be a fleet of 3 or 4 Drones that could replace 1 Self-Propelled Boomspay?
