In crisis
Without your health, you are nothing is a famous statement that's so true it's not even funny. We have spoken before about how Rural people, mainly men, mainly Farming men, just don't get checked up enough. They will service the Utes, the Tractors and the Trucks regularly, but they won't service themselves. That's until something goes wrong. I digress, but it doesn't hurt to throw that in occasionally. I put an article up about how many Victorian hospitals are in dire financial strife right now, and they are way worse than they were this time last year. See the article in the "Other Ag Stuff" section below (paid ones only). The situation hasn't had too much of an effect yet, but if these Hospitals are losing this sort of money, services and lots of things we once took for granted will be gone, and that will affect the community at large. Just one example: Goulburn Valley Health, based at Shepparton, went from a $335,000 deficit in 22/23 to a $38.38 million (yes million) deficit in 23/24. I spoke to a mate who's a Hospital CEO, and he said it's all true, and the state government is funding all of these losses. As he said, "They have the cheque book out and just keep writing out cheques". Surely, the system is broken. Have you noticed the loss of service in any Victorian Hospital? What is it like in other states?? Reply to [email protected]
