Ag media is a changing space. We have mentioned it before, and each week I see little subtle bits and pieces that suggest Farmers and the Ag cohort are moving away from the traditional modes of information delivery. Kirsten Diprose, a media industry veteran, podcaster and South West Victorian Farmer, said this: The way we consume news is changing in rural Australia, just as it is across the world, due to the onset of the digital era of media. The digital era is here for Agriculture too. And while many of us still love to pick up the newspaper, others prefer small snippets of news on the phone, or in their ears”. I agree, the future of news and information in Ag is “small snippets”. That’s what we focus on here, have done for a while, and I do keep asking myself could the snippets be smaller. I love a good long article that’s on topic, but the landscape has changed, and people want stuff that instant and now. The ABC used to dominate rural media, but that’s all changed as they have changed the narrative (to woke) for everyone and don’t produce the content that Agriculture craves.
