The infrastructure delima
Those concrete Grain Silos you see littered around rural areas were amazing feats of engineering when they first went up, and they still are. Anything that is roughly 10 stories high and dominates the Landscape is sorta iconic in nature, and they allowed Farmers to transition from bags to bulk and never look back. Now, they are still majestic but only ever good for painting on these days. The next big thing that went up across our Farm Land where those mains Power Lines, and people accepted them as progression. What followed that was the Windmills. They were pretty interesting at first, so much so that they even had observation points where you could watch them. We were accepting of them back them. Fast forward 15 or 20 years later to now, we have changed our tune about the Windmills, the solar panels and the huge transmission lines. Why? Because it's the ideology of some that we need these things across our prime Farming country in numbers. So it's gone from a few to lots and more proposed. With that, we have gone from acceptance to now, where they are an annoying sideline problem that we don't need or should have to deal with. But it's the next phase where the real problems will lie. That's getting rid of them when their expiry date is up. This is what will make people in rural areas flip. That's when it will become a shit show upon the proportion we never even imagined. It might sound like a bit of glass half empty. But the reality is we don't know what's ahead of us; all we know is it's not going to be pretty. What do you think will happen when we get to that decommissioning stage? Reply to [email protected] or 0427 011 900
