Been here before

I heard this story from Ross Johns on the “Hey Farmer Farmer” podcast yesterday morning. Ross is a Farmer in the Wimmera Mallee region, and he was talking about Automation and how it’s coming to Ag. He also reminded us how we had been here before a few generations ago; here’s what he said: “My Grandfather, who had a Farm a bit of a way out from Warracknabeal, would bring the bags of Wheat into town on a Horse-drawn Dray. Whilst in town, he would grab some more Jute bags in preparation for the next trip. He would also grab 3 bottles of Beer at the pub (takeaways), drink them on the first part of the trip, then lie down on the bags and have a snooze, all the time whilst the Horse would take him to home autonomously”. So yes, with all this tech, GPS Equipment and the proposed driverless Cars and Tractors, it’s enlightening to know we have been there before. You can listen to the podcast featuring Ross here.
