One thing I have noticed this Christmas/New Year period is that businesses are taking less time off and being a bit more attentive around servicing customers. I heard it a couple of times yesterday morning when I was doing some morning reading at the coffee shop in Geelong, where we are stationed for Christmas. The Coffee shop owner and chief coffee maker asked every customer what they were up to today, and three people said unfortunately, I have to work. I heard one guy say they normally would get a few days or a week off in the lead-up to Christmas, but the boss has said we have to work right up until Christmas. So, the reversal in economic conditions has forced many to keep at it when they normally would not. We wrote the other day about becoming complacent in the good times and having to unwind things when business is a little tighter. We know some Farmers have finished Harvest and will be on light duties of sorts; good luck keeping them away from doing stuff. Have you noticed that more people are working longer and right up to Christmas this year compared to past years? Reply to [email protected] or 0427 011 900

The Next Draw - I'm feeling in a good mood, so the next draw will work like this. It will have two parts. The 1st draw will be a 2 × 6 months subscription (2 draws) to this newsletter for non-subscribers that sign up as a paid subscriber (Remember, 30 days free) between now and 3 pm Friday the 3rd of January 2025. They will go into a mini-draw. Eg, if 20 people sign up in that time, 20 will go into the draw for the 2 x 6-month subscriptions. The odds of winning are short. The 2nd draw will be for all current subscribers (minus the ones above) for a 2 × 6-month subscription (2 draws) that they can give to someone (family member or friend) you think might be interested in receiving the newsletter.
