One in a crowd

I am in Sydney as we write this, at the cricket, sitting out in the beating sun, and the only dickhead tapping away on their computer between looking up to witness the next ball. It’s a trip I have had booked for a while, and the test match has been exhilarating. You go to the bar when it’s your shout, and you are pretty much assured you have missed something. It’s been action-packed, to say the least. I guess I am lucky because I can work from anywhere, and I love that. It got me thinking about how cricket, or this test match, is like Farming. You get served up something different each year. For this test match, it’s been the pitch, which has been very difficult to bat on, so batsmen have to abandon what they do naturally and find different ways to do things, like Farmers. It’s early 2025 and we don’t really know yet what this season is going to bring us. But whatever happens, 2025 will be challenging, and that’s what makes it exciting and an occupation like know other. The Factory worker knows what they are doing all year, and the Accountant knows they will be crunching numbers of some sort. But, just like the batsmen in this test, they are not really sure what the wicket is going to do, just like Farmers in regards to the year ahead.
