We all know that someone who just has a nose for a deal. They seem to have that canny knack of sniffing out something that nobody saw. I had a Farming mate on the phone yesterday whom I know is very good at finding the high margin deals. He deals in Machinery mainly, buts sometimes Hay and just knows how to make a good margin on stuff. He is the ultimate networker and just knows how to seek out a buyer for something, and knows how to find the desperate seller. I remember when I was young, we had a bloke called "Wacky" Jack Taylor. He had the store at Callawadda, and would sell Milk Bar stuff, Farm Merchandise, Hardware, virtually what he could get his hands on. He had a knack for buying something in bulk and having it all gone a couple of days after it was delivered. He would always be on the phone in his office in the middle of the Shop, just cutting deals, buying and selling like nobody's business. I remember one day, he bought a pellet load of, say, 10kg boxes of Black Jelly Beans; he sold a box or two to everyone in the district and beyond. He knew the system too, and his favourite line when you bought something was, "We'll just book it out as Sheep drench". I'm sure the ATO today would have called for an audit on Sheep Drench use back in the day when "Wacky" Jack was operating. Do you know of someone that can sniff out a deal?
