A different fight
We have written about Banyena (Vic) legend Peter “Bocky” Byrne one Anzac Day previous. The Vietnam Veteran is the epitome of what Anzac Day is all about. We spoke about the old-style characters recently, well, old Bocky has entertained plenty in his day and is still at it. I know old Bocky quite well, and he is one of those salt-of-the-earth Farming people who is a one-way giver and expects nothing in return. Having given the ultimate sacrifice in fighting for our country old Bocky and his family are now in a different fight. They are fighting off miners who want to dig up the family Farm for a few precious metals to save the world supposedly and stuff the Byrne Farm for good. No, we are not anti-mines; they just need not be on Farm Land. Apparently, in the Byrne case, they have mandated to preserve 10 acres of Buloke Trees but not the family home that raised 8 children. I mean, Buloke trees and great, but their home is their own sacred site. Where is the sense in that? Anyway, take a watch of old Bocky here. It’s pretty powerful stuff. Let me know your thoughts.
