The “Club Notes” for Saturday, the 18th of January, 2025.

Not bottom-line-friendly
I see where CBH Group has put out a reconciliation action plan document. CBH is a grower-owned Grain bulk handler in WA, and its owners aren't really happy about this report. CBH has copped a bit of a pasting lately because they did some "worthless" (one description) TV advertising campaign, which the shareholders thought was a waste of money. But this "woke document" (as someone described it) has taken a beating from its members on social media. It got me thinking about companies doing these sorts of things to appease society. I see where JBS has come out and said that their net zero target of 2040 which was described as a "pledge" and a "commitment" when they put it out in 2021. Now, they are doing some serious back-peddling and have described it as an aspiration only. There are so many companies out there with these woke-like goals with timelines, and heaps of them are scrapping them as they realise they are not bottom-line-friendly. Facebook, or Meta as they are known, has joined the likes of John Deere and Walmart in scrapping their diversity, equality and inclusion programs when it comes to hiring. Now, they just want to hire the best people for the job. We will look back at the last decade as the "woke years" and say to ourselves, "I'm glad those days are gone". Do you think woke is finished??? Reply to [email protected] or 0427 011 900
