Givers gain
I had never heard the term "givers gain" until the other day when we had a reply to this story we wrote about our trip to Kerin Ag. They said this: "Such a great post Dwain. Farm owners have so much to learn from each other, and the more you give to others by opening up your books and teaching them, the more you also receive (givers gain). There shouldn't be any competition in Agriculture, but rather cooperation (help each other)". That was a good reply, and it's so right; in years gone by, we have tended to be secret squirrels in Ag and not sharing as much as we should with the world. There is also an element in Australia where Farmers are humble and refrain from bragging, so to speak. Broden Holland is a young Farmer from Young in NSW who shares a lot of the good and not-so-good things that happen within his sizable Grain Growing business. Holland, like the Kerins, have created respect within the industry, even if not everyone agrees with them. These people know if you put yourself out there, you are going to cop some criticism along the way. It's the way it works. I am sure these guys get a form of givers gain that comes back to them in some way, shape, or form. Givers gain can be extended to our local community, we all have those people locally who give so much to the community and never expect anything back. They two demand respect with their actions and would have some form of givers gain come their way. Do you have an example of givers gain? Reply to [email protected] or 0427 011 900
