Weddings, funerals and.........

We say that only weddings and funerals are the things that bring us all together locally, but I have another one, Clearing sales. There was a clearing sale in my old hometown of Marnoo on Friday, and although I did not attend, we did drive past it on our way to a funeral and witnessed the number of people in attendance. It was huge. Unless it’s a great Spraying day or they are Shearing, Farmers will always juggle the chess pieces around so they can attend, knowing that they will need to be there just in case they miss out on a bargain. Or at least that’s what they will tell themselves. Many will go but won’t even register as a bidder. Remember back when Covid was on, and the Clearing sales all went online? I honestly thought that was it. The traditional clearing sale would be lost as we knew it, but I was wrong. The Clearing sale is back. Many still have the online component as well, but they are once again a day out and a place where people will catch up and discuss things at length.
