10 deep in the Paddock
The Wimmera Machinery Field Days were on last week to kick off the run of Field Days for 2025. If anyone went, can you please let me know what they were like this year? Remember when Field Days first started out they were more demo days. People would gather in the Paddock to get an arms-length view of how a new bit of Machinery worked. Since the Tractor was invented, there have been constant changes in Machinery, and it was a great way to get Farmers to understand how something worked by holding a demo. The old demo days then morphed into what we know as Field Days today, and the demo side of it has all but disappeared. The old demos were a great way to market and sell, but it also could be the opposite if something didn’t work right and you had witnesses 10 deep. Although rare, demo days are still happening but more on a localised basis where you could run a Tractor and Baler out the road 10 km and invite a group of Farmers along. The internet would have also curtailed the demo days because video is pretty clever these days. Do you like demos to learn about a particular Machines? Reply to [email protected] or 0427 011 900
