No 467 - Saturday's Club Notes

The “Club Notes” for Saturday, the 22nd of March, 2025.

By Dwain Duxson - An Ag Enthusiast

Almost trance-like

We are entering that tricky time of the year when our best laid-out plans can go awry. These best-laid plans aren’t ones we form in stone; they are ones we make for the best possible outcome. But they are fluid, and things can be changed. Whether that be a Livestock Farmer or a Cropper, we need to be adaptable in our approach. Crop plans are something that can be adapted; some will be able to make the changes easily, and others will stick fat to the plan. There is no right or wrong way. But with whatever you do, you have to give it some clear-minded thought. I heard about something this week called deep thinking. It’s pretty self-explanatory, but how you do it is another thing. I also learnt a bit more about how our fast and slow brains work and how we need to tap into the slow brain for this deep thinking to make these big decisions. Like, do I stay the course with my Crop plan, or do I make some changes because the windows are closing? I’m told the best deep thinking is where you have a clear head and you are almost trance-like in that this single decision is your only focus. The fast brain deals with all the quick decisions, so we need to make sure there is nothing going on there. It’s fascinating stuff and it’s something worth learning more about. Anyway, what sort of big decision will you be making over the next month or so on your Farm?  Reply to [email protected] or 0427 011 900
