5 Farmers in a Landcruiser

I was lucky enough to be in a Landcruiser wagon and given a guided tour around a very productive area of South East South Australia on Sunday. I just love this sort of stuff; all these guys were very knowledgeable of the area as they are either currently Farming or recently retired. The wisdom in the Car meant that I sat back and took it all in. We covered an area South of Penola, through to the Naracoorte area and then up to Frances as we zig-zagged our way down back roads and stopped at a few Farms to check some things out. Although we only covered a small area of the South East, I came away knowing that this is very diverse, productive country with good quality water close to the surface and in abundance. In the good Cropping country south of Naracoorte, they are calling it 9 to 10 dryland tonne Wheat country, such is the quality of the soil and reliable rainfall. Country can range in price as it can differ pretty quickly, but the general consensus in the Car was that it’s undervalued compared to other areas.
