I put this in yesterday's email, but I just want to repeat it - My offer is my promise. So when you subscribe, I promise to commit fully to bringing you the best information, ideas and news possible. It's a passion of mine, and I absolutely love it. I also love deadlines, and at 5 am (Eastern Standard Time), 6 days a week, I commit to that promise to deliver value.
This is what Ag marketing guru Dan Schultz said: "People rarely know why they do what they do. Much of human decision-making is instinctive. We act first, then tell ourselves a story later". When you think about it, we are exactly like that. With a lot of things we buy, we are constantly justifying the reason why we bought it to ourselves and to others.
I was talking to a Farmer who Farms in the Griffith area who got a bit of rain from the front that lobbed over Southern NSW during the week. He said one word, "relief". Things were going backwards. Well done to them.
The Ben Duxson podcast (yes, he is my brother) is live on the paid-up version. We cover many topics. Subscribe, and I will send it to you.
Have you tried the Paddock to Plate thing? - I know a couple from Nyngan who used to do Saltbush Lamb and head out on the weekends to the Farmers' market. They did well but gave up after 4 or 5 years because of the exhaustion of running a Farm and doing the brand thing on the weekend. As Ben said in the Podcast, the future of the Sheep industry is brands, but it takes a special kind of person to make a success of it
Do we take things we are familiar with for granted? I say that because a subscriber, who now owns Land near our family Farm, rang me and said how beautiful the country was around Wallaloo East. I never really thought of it as beautiful, having grown up there. But when I was back there doing the latest Podcast with Ben, I took a look around, and yes, it is different country, and I can see where he is coming from. We write about it today.
The most popular exhibit at the Birchip Cropping Group Main Field Day during the week was the 10ft pit showing all the goings on underneath the soil. We sorta manage the things we see rather than the things we don't see. Below ground level is a bit of a complex enigma. We write about it today.
Speaking of things we can't see, Ben talks about ASBVs and how these breeding values have revolutionised Sheep Breeding. "Without them, you are just guessing", he said.
Have a great Saturday.
